Rainy weather and frequent storms over the past few years have presented a particular challenge. We are situated on a sloping bit of land on the side of a ravine. A creek runs through the ravine below us and empties into a small lake.
Working with the continual erosion has remained a constant theme of our gardening here. Our challenge is to slow the flow of water to increase opportunities for rain to soak into the soil for later use, while reducing the amount of flowing water that erodes the soil and runs off into the ravine.

What the heck? The links are going back to my own old articles. I must need to log out to see them.
Too strange, Tony. Let me know if you want a fresh link in the comments.
I haven’t looked yet. I’m sure it happens only because I am logged in. I probably shouldn’t have said anything about it.
Tony- Would you mind trying those links again? I just changed and updated both links and I would appreciate knowing whether they are working properly now. Thanks so much for letting me know about the problem. Here is the correct link if you get tied up on the wrong page again: https://woodlandgnome.wordpress.com/2021/04/10/building-a-fern-bed-to-reduce-erosion/
Hey, it works now.
Thanks, Tony. I’m still adjusting to all of the changes to the WP platform. What about you? I keep having to figure out new ways to do things in this new system- Thanks again for the heads-up that the links weren’t right. -WG
I do not know if I am having any problems. When something strange happens . . . or does not happen . . . I just assume that I am not doing it properly. I suspected that the problem with the links was at this end, because I had problems with seeing other pictures on other blogs before.
Tony, in this case, the problem was my mistake. I copied the hyperlink from the wrong screen and when I went back and examined it, it had the word ‘posts’ in the link. It must have been from my preview instead of from the public facing link. The themes I’m using now have continued to change out how you do everything from write a caption to build a menu. And the changes are ongoing….. It has been interesting and I miss the old WordPress editor. I wouldn’t have known the link wasn’t working without your note, so thank you again for giving me the head’s up. 😉
You are welcome.
