Since life is growth and motion,
a fixed point of view kills anybody who has one.”

I can choose to see aging as seasoning

I choose. After all, it’s my point of view.”

Hello maybe you like to join my challenge http://www.sylvain-landry.com/sl-week/sl-week-9-school.html
“Katy-did?, Katy-didn’t!” With that long ovipositor, I’d say she definitely did! 😉 Happy Sunday!
🙂 Help me, Eliza- ovipositor? I Ass-sumed this to be a grasshopper. Is it not? I just found an even larger one on the wall of our terrace and photographed it. We love these guys 😉 Happy Sunday<3
Pretty sure that is a katydid, named after their mating call they make at night. I’m sure you’ve heard them. Rasping, loud, “Katy…Katy…Katy-did!”
‘Ovi’- Latin for egg, -‘positor’ for position. In some insect species, there is a long tube which females use to drill into wood or the ground to deposit eggs. Grasshopper family: katydids, crickets, grasshoppers all have them. Certain wasps, too. Hope that helps! 🙂
Thank you, Eliza. I appreciate you sharing all of this information with us. I had wondered about the spike on the animal’s abdomen- now it makes perfect sense!
Always happy to share what I’ve learned. Teaching is one of our callings, yes? 🙂
Indeed it is 😉 That, and watching butterflies drink….
What striking images!
Thank you, Maria- I always think of you when these ginger lilies bloom. You photograph such lush, beautiful flowers. We get a bit of the ‘tropical flowering zone’ for a few weeks each summer ❤
