Some might call it ‘mole-skin’ or ‘cafe au lait,’ but Jenny calls it ‘beaver.’

By whatever moniker, it proves a dull and washed out shade of brown. Or perhaps a dark faded khaki?

This color looks to me as though it has been through the washer a time or ten too many.
It is the color still most prominent in our garden: the color of winter bleached leaves and long dead stems; spores, and cold scorched foliage.

But from such as this is the newness of spring nurtured. It holds life, potential, promise.

And so as always, I want to thank Jenny for choosing the perfect color again this week.
In searching for ‘beaver brown’ I was able to look beyond it and find more signs of change; more promises of spring’s return.

You described it so well, saying that it’s been through the wash too many times. I’m glad you were able to find some signs of spring among the beaver shades. Such lovely images as always. I really enjoy the one with the pink flower.
Thank you, Jenny 😉
Your hellebores (and crocus) are beautiful. I never have planted any, perhaps this year I will! As always, you inspire!
Oh Eliza, you flatter 😉 These are just part of my nefarious plan to have something blooming here every day of the year. We always breathe a sigh of relief when the Crocus finally appear!
That’s like me and snowdrops. I do a happy dance when I see them! Do they grow in your zone?
Yes 😉 They are the first bulb to appear here each spring 😉 Tiny, but oh so beautiful and celebrated. Do you think the snow record will be broken this weekend for Boston? Are you getting any sun this week?
It is supposed to be sunny until Sat. Forecast tomorrow is 52 – wow! Today hit 46. So happy to see the snow melting and retreating! Boston probably won’t get much accumulation, it’s wintry mix, but who knows? What’s still on the ground is giving them enough problems and the killer ice coming off roofs is a nightmare.
It has been an epic winter, and I’m impressed with your toughness to have come through so well. 52! Wow! I hope you enjoy it. It is good to know it is finally getting to melt/evaporate. Rain here tomorrow, but at least we will remain above freezing through the weekend 😉
