“I was drinking in the surroundings: air so crisp you could snap it with your fingers and greens in every lush shade imaginable offset by autumnal flashes of red and yellow.”

  1. Lovely, all. Especially like the Nathaniel Hawthorne quote.

  2. beautiful photos WG! So happy to see you’re enjoying a lovely autumn. Blessings to you, Sarah

  3. Precious monarch! 🙂 I adore the Humbert Wolfe quote!

    • Eliza, I was so pleased to find three different Monarchs along the
Colonial Parkway today. This was the best of the photos. Two of the three landed and stayed put long enough for me to get photos of them, which was a kindness on their part. A gorgeous day here, but the wind is cold. I saw your message about frost coming tonight. Sounds like you’ve steeled yourself to be ready for it. The changes unfold whether we are “ready” or not, so all we are left to do is find the beauty in them. Best wishes, WG
