Follow the path of Light
Always finding the next spot to plant your foot
Reflecting the One light of All.
When the path ahead is lost in shadows,
Trust that it will reveal itself
Step by step.
The light inside, one with the beacon
Drawing us ever onward.
Living the journey
Step by breath by step-
Destination just past the next horizon-
Destination already within;

What a lovely verse to start a new year with!
What jumped out at me are these lines.
“The light inside, one with the beacon
Drawing us ever onward.”
But as we go through life with its myriad learning, inhibitions and challenges, we start believing in our acquired beliefs and distance ourselves from that light within. We even forget about its existence! So what is that practice we need to do to hold awareness of that beacon shining bright?

A morning affirmation I found early on and have practiced for years: “You who are the source of all power, whose rays illuminate the entire Earth, illuminate this heart also, that it too, may do your work.” Although it is dualistic, it is a helpful way to begin each day.
