Marsala,
Brownish pink, rosy brown,
Color chosen for 2015.
*
*
Color of ivy stems, winter blossoms, dried blood,
Wine, pomegranates, terra cotta, grapes.
*
*
Cooly warm, this hue.
Color of Earth, not sky;
*
*
Muddy water, not fire.
*
*
Color of life,
New leaves, new growth, winter survival.
*
*
Marsala purrs softness, comfort, calm.
*
*
It promises spring.
*
*
It verifies vitality
It witnesses winter’s defeat.
*
*
Marsala: taste the good taste of new.

One Word Photo Challenge: Marsala
So beautiful. Such wonderful finds for this color! Thank you so so much for sharing 🙂
This is a color I’ve always liked- especially in foliage- but didn’t know this name for it. An easy one this week, Jenny 😉 Thank you! I”m looking forward to your weather challenge. I’m hoping for some interesting ice photos later this week. Best wishes for a great day! WG
Glad someone found it easy 😉
I’m glad your excited, I’m a little nervous about a fall out in interest in the challenge with the switch from colors to weather. But we shall see. I’m excited about the weather challenges too though!
You will have to see how it goes, but I predict that interest in the challenge will only increase 😉 Do you ever look at Daily Post’s “Weekly Photo Challenge?” Hundreds of entries each week. I think it is fun to look for, or compose, a photo to meet a simple challenge. We all have weather! The colors can be challenging, too. Best wishes- WG
I do often look at the Weekly Photo Challenge. I haven’t participated as much, as of late, but occasionally I link a post there or to the Daily Prompt. It amazes me how many people share their pieces to the Weekly Photo Challenge. It’s like a huge collaborative art piece.
😉 Yes, a fascinating window on the world. I love seeing photos from areas of the planet I’m unlikely to visit. It brings us all together in unexpected and delightful ways 😉
Beautiful examples of the color!
Thank you! It is a lovely color- a color name I didn’t know before working on this post. Were you familiar with it? WG
I always thought of it in terms of marsala sauce in cooking. So like other wine names, burgundy etc. it is a trendy new name to bandy about. I just read that Pantone has it as the 2015 Color of the Year. Okay, we’ll go with it. 😉
There have been worse colors of the year…. I agree with you- we’ll just go with it 😉 Shopping anyone? Stay warm Eliza. WG
